The reservation system has been paused for the season. Have a safe winter, see you on the courts in the Spring.
The story of our court begins in the faded sunlight of the late 1940s. In those post-war years, a handful of resident families—driven by a shared love for these woods and a desire for fellowship—pooled their resources to carve a place for play out of the wild. It wasn't just a project of asphalt and net; it was a gift to the future, built on the generosity of neighbors who believed in the value of a shared clearing.
As the decades drifted by like falling leaves, the court weathered many seasons. While it saw several renewals, there were long stretches where the forest seemed to reclaim its own. The surface grew weathered and cracked, and for many years, the court sat in a silent state of disrepair, a quiet relic of summers past that had become all but unusable for the game.
However, the spirit of the Wilderness is nothing if not resilient. In the Spring of 2020, as the woods began to bloom, the court underwent a grand awakening supported by gracious donations from many residents. This latest restoration didn't just heal the old wounds of the pavement; it expanded our horizons by welcoming two vibrant Pickleball courts into the fold, blending a new popular tradition with our historic grounds.
The journey continues this year. To ensure this gathering place remains a jewel of our community, the court will be professionally resurfaced in the Spring of 2026. This upcoming renewal is made possible by the dedicated contributions of our members through the Wilderness Association dues. Together, we are ensuring that the rhythmic "pop" of the ball and the laughter of friends will echo through our trees for generations to come.
Nature is unpredictable. Whether it’s a fallen tree crushing a fence or the heavy toll of our seasonal changes, unexpected repairs are part of life in the Wilderness.
By contributing a financial gift beyond your annual dues, help us maintain a "ready fund" for these emergencies. Your extra support ensures our shared space stays safe and open, no matter what the elements throw our way.
